Brunello 2012 – a five - star dilemma
Written by Walter Speller 31 Jan 2017
Crocedimezzo 2012 Brunello di Montalcino:
Maturing, mid ruby with bricky rim.
Stalky and reductive on the nose and still quite closed on the palate. No immediate gratification here, although the fruit is concentrated, elegant and with fine powdery tannins.

Crocedimezzo 2012 Brunello di Montalcino
Delicate wild berry, underbrush, clove and grilled herb scents waft from the glass. The palate is ethereal and light-bodied, offering red cherry, pomegranate, and cinnamon flavors with a touch of game. Tangy acidity and supple tannins make it approachable now. Drink through 2020.
Crocedimezzo 2012 Riserva (Brunello di Montalcino)
Delicate enticing aromas of woodland berry, pressed rose, pipe tobacco, leather and wild herb waft out of the glass. Reflecting the nose, the elegant palate offers Marasca cherry, wild raspberry and ground clove framed in polished tannins. Fresh acidity lends balance. It's linear, subtle and already enjoyable. Best 2019–2025.
