The Agriturismo La Crociona as well as being a perfect location for ceremonies and weddings is also ideal for sporting events and amateur gatherings.

In addition to events inside the Agriturismo, we also suggest some of the main events that take place in Montalcino and its surroundings, such as the Benvenuto Brunello, the Eroica, the Palio di Siena and others.

Benvenuto Brunello

One of the most anticipated events of the year from the world of wine is the "Benvenuto Brunello" which every year in February sees the presentation of the new vintage of Brunello di Montalcino, together with the other wines with the denomination of the territory, introduced on the market with the New Year.

In the presence of the producers of Montalcino, the event has always seen the participation of Italian and foreign journalists, sector operators and enthusiasts.

Brunello Crossing

Brunello Crossing is a running event that includes three competitive races of 44 km, 23 km and 13 km. It starts from the Montalcino Fortress and runs through woods, vineyards, farms, ancient villages, in the natural environment of the Val d 'Orcia, part of the Unesco heritage since 2004.

But the Brunello Crossing is not just a race. There will also be a non-competitive 13 km walk, a guided tour of the cellars and numerous opportunities to appreciate the high quality of local food products. With these will be prepared the lunch of the athletes and the various refreshments along the routes, to underline the excellent combination of sport, territory, food and wine.

L'Eroica is an annual cycling event that takes place in May and involves enthusiasts from the five continents, divided into 4 different routes of varying difficulty, starting from 46, 70, 102, up to 171 km, on the legendary dirt roads that wind along the Tuscan hills around Montalcino.

A historical-sporting event that symbolically recalls the heroic deeds of the legendary cycling champions of the entire time span from the late nineteenth century to the second post-war period. Precisely for this reason, this non-competitive race has been repeated for 20 years, where participants can only compete with vintage racing bicycles, the so-called HEROIC BIKES.

Palio di Siena

A few kilometers from Montalcino is Siena famous all over the world for the Palio, a horse race that has an ancient tradition: it has been run practically without interruptions since 1632 and takes place in Piazza del Campo in Siena, a medieval square in the shape of a capital D, which on the occasion of the competition is transformed into a tufaceous sand track.

Despite being an event that attracts a large crowd of tourists at each edition, the Palio is an event with a distinctly popular character and of enormous importance for the life of the city. For the Sienese, in fact, both the race of 16 August (the Palio dell'Assunta) and that of 2 July (the Palio della Madonna di Provenzano) are the most important events of the year. Each contrada prepares for the day on which the Palio is run throughout the year and winning it is a source of great joy.

Sagra del Tordo

The Sagra del Tordo was born in 1957 and is divided into two major events. The first is the Sagra del Tordo which is held on the last Sunday of October and the second is the Opening of the Hunts on the second Sunday of August.

The Sagra del Tordo is the largest and most important festival in Montalcino in which the entire population is involved. The festivities include food, dance and celebrations culminating in the challenge of a historic archery competition. Twice a year, therefore, the 4 districts of Montalcino, Borghetto, Pianello, Ruga and Travaglio, take the field to compete in an archery competition that lights up the hearts of the entire population.
